Joseph W. Wilde started the business in 1945 in Milwaukee, marketing garage doors throughout Wisconsin and the Upper Peninsula of Michigan and distributing them through lumber dealers.  The company moved to West Allis in 1956.  Joseph served as president from 1945 to 1970 and also served as president of the NARI Home Improvement Council in 1969.  In 1971, the company moved to their present facility in New Berlin.

Donald J. Wilde, the company's president from 1971 to 1996, maintained the company's customer-oriented philosophy.  In 1994, Don was honored as Business Person of the Year by the New Berlin Chamber of Commerce for his contributions to the business community.  Don retired in January 1997 after 40 years with the company, but still visits the office on almost a daily basis.

Joseph R. Wilde, the company's president from 1997 to 2007, was responsible for the commercial overhead division for many years.  In addition, Joe led the company to six consecutive years in Wayne-Dalton's President Club, which honors top distributors throughout the country.  Joe retired in October 2007 after 45 years with the company.

Chris M. Teifke, the founder's granddaughter and daughter of Donald, is the current president and owner of the company.  Chris returned to the company in 1994 after careers in banking and real estate, and has many fond memories of growing up in the family business, especially putting together product catalogs as a child.  She is proud to be surrounded by a staff of such experienced employees, and promises to continue to care for both the company's third generation employees and customers.

While sons and daughters succeed their parents in all departments of their company family tree, customers also pass their satisfaction with Joe Wilde Company to their children who seek the same quality for their own homes and garages.  These faithful employees and customers are a true testament to the solid commitment of the Joe Wilde Company.  Employee longevity is the hallmark of the business, evident when you take a look at the company's years of experience.

Over its many years in business, the company has expanded its product line to satisfy its customer requests by including home improvement products - aluminum awnings, railings, storm doors, and steel service doors - in addition to their core garage door/opener line.
