The Institute of Door Dealer Education and Accreditation (IDEA) developed the rigorous IDEA Dealer Accreditation program in 1997. IDEA later developed programs to certify technicians including Residential and Commercial Certification programs. Certification represents an independent, third party validation of an individual’s professional status. These programs are available to installers with two or more years of experience, and who have been verified as being fully and fundamentally trained by an IDEA-Sanctioned Trainer. Certification is earned by passing a comprehensive written examination based on the IDEA Certification Study Guide. We are proud to offer our customers both Certified Residential and Commercial Installers, a symbol of excellence within the door industry.
Effective July 1, 2009, no person or entity may engage or offer to engage in construction business in Wisconsin unless they hold a Building Contractor Registration (BCR) issued by the Safety and Buildings Division of the Wisconsin Department of Commerce.
For consumers, dealing with a business holding a Building Contractor Registration lets them know that state and local officials have a record of that contractor. It is a layer of effort that a fly-by-night contractor may not wish to deal with. Registered contractors have more opportunity to keep track of code requirements and have more information on their business requirements concerning safety practices.
