Residential Garage Door Installer / Service Technician

The Garage Door Installer/Service Technician position involves the installation and service of residential garage doors, openers, and other door related hardware along with commercial products as needed.


  • Review work orders for completeness and proper loading daily
  • Stock and load vehicle with appropriate products and materials to complete assigned jobs on a daily basis; this includes spare door/operator parts and adequate lumber supply
  • Correctly install and service garage doors, openers, springs, cables, and/or other hardware as trained and as indicated on work order; checking for proper installation, clearance, balance, and appropriate UL 325 opener reversing operation while documenting and communicating any deficiencies to the Operations Manager
  • Perform all work in a safe and efficient manner to avoid any personal harm or lost time
  • Accurately record all information of work performed on each work order
  • Instruct customer on proper operation of all products installed or serviced
  • Collect payments from customers upon job completion
  • Remove all unused products and materials from each job site, leaving it neat, clean, and safe upon completion
  • Unload truck on a daily basis; dispose of any garbage/waste in appropriate locations, mark all returned items with customer name, and return any unused parts, tools, or other equipment to the warehouse
  • Be available for the on call 24/7 emergency service rotation schedule which includes Saturday service calls
  • Respond to customer questions in a truthful and pleasant manner
  • Treat customers and co-workers with honesty, courtesy, and respect
  • Attend all required and requested safety meetings and training sessions


  • Superior mechanical aptitude and proficiency with power tools
  • Ability to lift and carry stacked garage door sections weighing up to 180 lbs. five feet off the ground
  • Ability to climb and work off of a 15 foot high stepladder
  • Must be able to work in a challenging physical environment – i.e. outdoors in wet and cold conditions, high heat and humidity, and on mud and uneven ground
  • Outstanding work ethic and desire to do only first-rate work independently and with little to no supervision
  • Exceptional attitude, great customer service skills, and ability to represent the company in best possible light
  • Ability to read and write legibly and accurately and have basic mathematical skills
  • Must be physically able to perform work
  • Valid Wisconsin Driver's License and good driving record with ability to operate a standard truck and be covered under company’s insurance   
  • Must be punctual and have good attendance record


  • Requires a high school diploma or equivalent
  • Prior garage door experience is a plus
